When people talk about Argentine technology, the figures tell a story worth reading carefully: what the country exports, how many people work in the sector and where what is sold ends up. What do the numbers of the software and knowledge-based services industry show today?
How much does Argentine software export?
According to the Permanent Observatory of the Software and IT Services Industry of the Argentine Software Industry Chamber, the sector's exports reached an all-time high of US$2,651 million in 2025. The figure represents 3.2% growth over the previous year and almost doubles the value of a decade ago.
How many people work in the sector?
The industry counted 155,545 registered jobs during 2025, after adding more than 4,000 positions over the year. Compared with 2015, the number of jobs grew 67.9%. Behind every export there are teams of developers, designers, engineers and consultants who build the solutions.
Where does it stand within knowledge-based services?
Software is part of a broader family: knowledge-based services. According to the International Economy Center of Argentina's Foreign Ministry, these activities generated exports of US$8,927 million in 2024, equivalent to 52.1% of Argentina's services sales abroad and 9.2% of all goods and services exports. In 2025 they reached US$9,600 million, with year-over-year growth of 8.1%, and ranked as the country's third-largest export complex.
Within that category, professional services accounted for 64.1% of exports and IT services for 28.3%, over the four-quarter period ending in the first half of 2025.
Where do the exports go?
Latin America and the Caribbean account for 33.5% of Argentina's services exports. The region is the natural destination: it shares a language, has close time zones and includes sectors in the midst of digital transformation, such as banking, telecommunications, commerce and tourism.
That is why technology trade missions make sense. In Santo Domingo, the event on September 21, 2026 brought together 17 Argentine companies and left more than 300 business meetings scheduled; in Costa Rica, the sector's second consecutive Argentine mission took place.
What do these numbers mean for those looking for a technology partner?
The figures show an industry with volume, growing talent and export experience. For an organization evaluating a partner in Argentina, this data helps gauge the available capacity and the sector's track record. The guide How to choose the ideal software development partner in Argentina adds criteria for making the decision.
